Oren L Harris

Oren grew up in Jamaica in a dysfunctional home, in a dysfunctional culture, where he witnessed his Mom betrayed sexually by his Dad with two different women, and producing 6 siblings outside of his sister and himself. This experience shaped his life and gave him a sensitivity for love, relationships and women’s pain.

It wasn’t until age 31, after he had made several relationship blunders following in the footsteps of his dad, that Jesus arrested him on the New York City streets one night. Oren realized his nothingness, and saw how close he came to destroying his wife Joan, now married for 42 years. The event so impacted his life with the knowledge of God, that it made him look at all his life in terms of relationships: first, vertically with the Jesus who arrested – rescued – him; and, secondly, his relationships horizontally, starting with Joan.

Oren’s work-life quickly and steadily moved from the ego-centric IBM salesman to ministry as he saw how there is nothing impossible for God. He adopted that mind set, and shifted into a ministry focused on relationship problems. Oren does not give up on a relationship problem because He trusts God, who doesn’t give up on us.

In 1990 Oren felt called by the Lord to attend colleges and get ordained as a pastor in the United Methodist Church and the Free Methodist Church. His studies included:

Cairn University

Graduated 1994

Attended 1995 pursuing MDIV

SIITM – Spirituality In Information Technology Management

Throughout his years as a Pastor, Oren was always drawn to relationships. He came to realize the church was not able to focus on the deep relational love needs of its people. To help fulfill this critical need, Oren began focusing more on counseling, first within the church, and eventually becoming accredited.

Oren has past affiliation with AACC (American Association Of Christian Counselors) and IBCC (International Brotherhood If Christian Counselors). He established MOWDIDELLER (Ministry on Wheels Damsels in Distress Experiencing Long Lasting and Enjoyable Relationship) Counseling.

Oren’s book, derived from his thesis SIITM (Spirituality In Information Technology Management), became “The ELLER Model: Finding Love Perfectly, Love Flow² – published in May 2018. As a hand book, it highlights both sides of Love and Relationship problems – Finding Love and Keeping Love Flowing. A model because the Bible is a model to us. Finding Love PERFECTLY, because with Jesus in your heart and following him, everyone can Find Love Perfectly. And the best part is, by following the Model, relationship tragedies can be turned into overcoming triumph because of Empowerment…Hope for all!!

Oren and Joan now live as empty-nesters and love spending time with their daughter and three grandkids. Their son, a good uncle, was killed in a car accident when returning home after babysitting. Oren and Joan heard the news as Joan was coming back from a weekend of ministry to join Oren as he was headed to preach. This event is the single most life-challenging event that demonstrates Oren’s love for his Lord, his trust in him, and his ability to overcome trials and challenges. This tragedy moved Oren to more deeply believe that marriage and relational challenges are opportunities to teach and demonstrate overcoming.

Oren and Joan found love in Jamaica on a tennis court. They both still enjoy tennis, counseling together, fellowship within the body of Christ and family time.
