Jason Wells

Our emotions pull us like gravity into what is in the center of our hearts. What is in the center of your heart? We know what’s in the center by what we turn to when there’s pain, sadness, brokenness and even joy. Addicts turn to their addiction, shopaholics turn to shopping, some turn to music, and some turn to others. The hope is that the things we turn to when hard times fall on us are life sustaining and that there is healing from the pain. Jason believes that only Christ was meant to be in the center of our hearts and only Christ can set us free. This is what Jason has learned along his journey by helping families, teenagers and from helping men who have been incarcerated for sexual crimes.

Jason worked with children and teenagers in youth groups and community outreach ministries for 15 years. He facilitated small group Bible studies and Sunday school lessons. He volunteered weekly at a community outreach that focused on building Christ centered relationships with at risk youth. He was responsible for the midweek Bible study message and became a mentor to troubled teenagers. Jason connected well with the teens as he shared the same interest with many of them. In this role, Jason mentored teenagers who had troubled home lives, struggled with peer pressure and were at risk of using drugs and alcohol to manage school, community and home stressors. Jason found himself being a bridge that connected these teens to the church and many found salvation and healing through the gospel.

Jason went on to get a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from West Chester University. Afterwards, he worked with struggling families in Lancaster County as a family mental health worker. In this role, Jason helped parents create a stronger executive presence in the home. He also helped parents become more attuned to their child’s needs in order to provide support in times of a crisis. Jason also helped their children develop coping skills and self-care strategies to mitigate intrusive behaviors such as self-harm, aggression, and suicidal ideation. After a couple years of counseling teenagers and adults professionally at the bachelor’s level, Jason felt he was called to higher education and training within the career of counseling. He then proceeded on getting his MED in counseling from MISSIO Seminary (formally Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, Pa) in Philadelphia.

He has since then been working with men with problems sexual behaviors and who many are also victims of child and adult trauma. Jason has helped men navigate through the pain of shame and guilt to finding forgiveness and healing. Jason has become familiar with listening to dark stories of abuse, neglect, and addiction. Jason has been helping men mitigate problem sexual behaviors, self-harm, and suicidal ideation through CBT, DBT, REBT techniques, and behavior modification strategies. Jason has worked with a population of men who are challenged with severe mental health issues such as schizophrenia, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and severe depression. Between using empirical counseling tools and techniques, Jason’s daily goal is to always bring Christ into the room through grace and to show his clients that there is forgiveness and healing from a past of darkness.

What has been in the center of your heart? Where have your emotions pulled you? Are you ok with that? Jason invites clients to come into a holy and secret place where they can discover healing and forgiveness from a past of hurt and pain. Where they can begin to place Christ back into the center, or discover his love and healing for the first time. If this is you and you are interested in meeting with Jason or any other gifted and wonderful Transformed by Grace counselors, reach out for an intake consultation.
