David Goodson

Dr. Mark D. Goodson is the youngest of seven children born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He has been married to the love of his life, Vanessa, since 1984. They have two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mark attended Eastern University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership. He attended Liberty University where he received a Master of Arts in Human Services, and returned to Eastern University where he earned a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Mark has been active in multiple areas of life dedicating himself to the service of others.



In April of 2022 Mark retired from a thirty-two-year career in law enforcement where he not only patrolled the communities of his city, but upon being reassigned to the Employee’s Assistance Program Unit (EAP) he provided support and counsel for the unique challenges facing officers and their families. Mark served in the U. S. Army Reserves for six years and has pastored his congregation for the last eighteen years.


As a psychotherapist, Mark has worked with individuals, couples, families, first responders, and military personnel, as well as members of the clergy. Mark has held workshops for married couples and singles, facilitates a pastoral burnout session, and conducts suicide awareness and prevention sessions. For his entire adult life Mark has lived a life of service; his motto for living is “Serving is a privilege.” Mark has served his country, city, congregation, and family, and now looks forward to serving you well as a Counselor for Transformed By Grace.
