Each of us who has received Jesus as our Savior has been given so much more than we often realize – and (oh!) so much more than we often choose to let empower and calm our lives!

Our God is all about transforming our weakness by His gift of power. Transforming our feelings of being unloved, unworthy, rejected, hurt and embittered by His gift of love. Transforming our habitual behaviors that come out in acts of pride, anger, fear, worry, stubbornness, selfishness, lust, laziness, gluttony, judgment, arrogance (Go ahead! You can name some for yourself!) by His gift of self-discipline and a sound mind.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity,

but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

In Christ there is nothing timid, weak, unloving, out of sorts or out of control! Our holy, loving Lord wants to widen and deepen His Spirit’s reign over and within our lives – over and within our hearts, minds and spirits. God does this through what He has already given us. It is, then, up to us to acknowledge God’s gifts to us and to choose to put them into practice in our thought life, in our words, in our actions, in our reactions, in every relationship and in every circumstance we encounter.

God is with us. God’s good gifts – God’s good transforming gifts – are within us! And our holy, loving Lord will help us to release into our lives, and into the lives of all those around us, all that we have already received – a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline!
