January 8–Delightful Desires

God loves  to give His children good things…the very best things. And God knows that the very best thing for us is an eternal, intimate, love relationship with Him. Scripture tells us that God will give us the desires of our hearts…as we delight in Him. To truly delight in the LORD means, as the Hebrew word infers, to be soft and pliable in God’s hands. It is in this softness of heart, and humble trust of God’s love for us while He shapes our character, that our desires become God’s desires for our lives. As we yield to God’s renewing of our hearts and minds, we begin to passionately want what God wants for us: To grow in love, grace, truth, wisdom, courage, strength, hope, peace, kindness, compassion–and all that flow from God’s eternal character. And, oh my! You can be sure that God absolutely loves to give us those delightful–soft and pliable–desires of our hearts!

Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.
