June 8–Love on others for Jesus!–a little bit of a commercial!

He turns 9 today. Lovens–a young boy who likes to sing, play with marbles, read, attends all kinds of church activities and does quite well in school–turns 9 today.

But there won’t be a really big birthday party with all the food and games, presents, cake and goody-bags for the guests–as so many of our 9 year olds are given. Because Lovens also happens to live in extreme and crushing poverty with his family in Haiti.

But Lovens is not left without hope because the call of Jesus Christ is being answered in his life:

Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes Me;

and whoever welcomes Me does not welcome Me but the One who sent Me.

Mark 9:37

Lovens is just one of the more than 1 million children that Compassion International has ministered to for more than 55 years. Compassion’s purpose is to love and welcome children in the Name of Jesus Christ by helping to relieve the plight of childhood poverty world-wide.

Compassion does this by making the Body of Christ–the Church of Jesus Christ around the world–aware of these little ones and connecting them—one-Child-at-a-time to Jesus-following-Sponsors who will provide greatly needed monthly financial support for these precious little ones.

The Sponsor’s financial gifts help supply food, clean water, clothing, medicine, school supplies–and yes, even the birthday gifts and Christmas presents that more privileged children have come to expect.

Those provisions are life saving and life sustaining. But that is just the beginning.

Compassion truly loves on the children–and, thereby, loves on their families and their communities–with the grace and truth, the salvation and transformation known only through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And as Sponsors, as Ambassadors of Christ, we get to participate in this truly life-saving, life-transforming—for all eternity—way to love on one of God’s little ones.

Lovens is part of our family.  We pray for each other. We write to each other. And, yes, we offer our financial gifts–that God has provided to us. This is such a small way to love on Lovens. We are humbled by, and grateful for, the opportunity to love on one of God’s young ones. And we believe and look forward to watching how powerfully and lovingly God will carry out His plan in and through Lovens’ life as Lovens chooses to follow passionately after his Lord Jesus Christ!

We are all God’s children. We all need Jesus. We all need love. We all need to be welcomed in the Name—in the grace and truth—of Jesus!

Pray about who you can love on for Jesus! Then love on them!

In love, peace and purposeful passion,                                                               Sylane
