June 2–WORSHIP!–Part 2–Psalm 100

What comes to your mind when you think of the word WORSHIP?

Does a liturgical reading, a well-known-oft-repeated Scripture verse come to mind? Does a scripted service from the invocation through the doxology through the benediction come to mind?

Does bowing your head in solemn prayer or lifting your hands in praise come to mind? Does an old, favorite hymn or a modern-day praise song come to mind?

What is WORSHIP to you? To me?

Really, we need to ask: What is WORSHIP to our God? What kind of worship from us is meaningful to our LORD?

After all, it is our LORD who is receiving our worship.

Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:2

Our LORD is so great! Our LORD is the One True God, Creator, Life-Giver, Sovereign, Eternal,  Holy, Perfect, Provider, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Our LORD is our Help, Healer, Hope, Shepherd, Savior.

Our LORD is the Way and the Truth and the Life. Our LORD is LOVE.

Our LORD cannot be put into a box or on a shelf where we can pull Him out once a week–or even two or three times–to worship Him!  Our LORD is so much greater, so much bigger than we could ever imagine! And our worship of our LORD needs to be so much greater, so much bigger–in every way!

It is our LORD who has created us–who has broken through all of our barriers and boundaries of time and space, broken through all of our knowledge and abilities to understand–who LOVES us with an outrageous, all-emcompassing, faithful, saving, forever LOVE!

Our LORD’s LOVE for us shatters all concepts of what Holy LOVE is like. Jesus Christ is absolutely radical, passionate, persistent, self-sacrificing, and death-conquering in His LOVE for us!

We need our LORD to open our eyes, our hearts, our minds and our spirits to who our LORD truly is so that we may–and will–worship Him as He desires and deserves!

Jesus told us what our LORD–our Heavenly Father–truly desires from His children as we worship Him:

…a time is coming, and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24

So, come, and Worship the LORD!

Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:2

And worship Him in the fullness of the truth you know about who our LORD is! And worship Him in the fullness of your spirit as you sense the LORD’s Holy, All-encompassing, Loving Spirit living within you!

In love, peace and purposeful passion,                                                               Sylane
