February 4–Mighty and Tender Love

Our Holy God–maker of heaven and earth–is mighty and sovereign. And this mighty and sovereign God is also tender and compassionate. Our Lord intimately knows our circumstances and our hearts. And even when we feel most vulnerable, God’s mighty and tender love will protect us.

A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out.

Isaiah 42: 3

Personal Reflections from Sylane:                                                                           God knows when we are feeling frail and at our breaking point. God knows when our energy is depleted and we are feeling burned out.

It’s so important to remember that how we feel, however, does not change the might and tenderness of God in any way.  God doesn’t change. God does not grow weak or worn out. And God’s love can always be trusted. And must be–especially when we are feeling very weak and unprotected.

God, unlike some people we may know, does not “kick us when we’re down.” God doesn’t take advantage of us when we are weak.

However, when we do turn to God–recognizing and admitting that we really do need Him to help us, lead us, fill us, refresh us–God will use this to our advantage. To move us closer to Him. To make us stronger in Him. To get to know Him better. To experience His mighty and tender love more intimately.

We really are so safe in God’s loving hands. They are the mighty and sovereign hands that fashioned every detail of this creation. They are the tender and compassionate hands that are eternally marked with the nail-driven scars of His crucifixion.

Our Lord Jesus Christ reaches out to take us by the hand as we walk through each circumstance, each relationship, each responsibility, each feeling we have–each day of our lives.  So choose to hold on to hand of Jesus–and experience the mighty and tender love in His good grip.

In love, peace and purposeful passion,                                                               Sylane
