Do you want to live forever? Do you want to be immortal?
I do. But not here on this earth. I want to live forever with my God in His eternal Kingdom, where sin and shame, pain and death, war and destruction have no place and no power. I want to be immortal and live eternally in the presence of my loving and holy Abba.
There is a way to be an immortal and live in the presence of the Eternal God. This way is found only in Jesus.
In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. – Proverbs 12:28
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6
…then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead…Salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. – Acts 4:10, 12
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11:25-26
We each need to answer some questions honestly for ourselves: Do we believe Jesus is the resurrection and the life? Do we believe that Jesus is the way to be immortal? That Jesus is the way to live eternally with our God?
For all of us who have put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we have already been birthed into eternal life – into immortality. Our immortal, eternal life with our Holy God began the moment we declared with our mouths and believed in our hearts that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9). Sin has been fully forgiven. The power of death has been fully conquered. And God calls us to live in these eternal, immortal truths – right now!
Each of us, as the rescued and redeemed people of God, are called to live our new and resurrected – our eternal and immortal – lives by following God’s greatest commandment. To live our lives as God had always intended us to live them from the birth of creation:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength [and]…Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Mark 12:30-31
May God open each of our hearts and minds to trust Jesus fully as our one and only way to live eternally with our Heavenly Abba, as our one and only way to be immortal! And may we live our lives – our immortal lives – with the full flow and power of Christ’s love for our God, for others and for ourselves!
