Every Spiritual Dwarf is a liar. Each of them denies some truth of God.
Hear Dopey as he speaks his lies: “I just don’t know nothin’. I don’t know what to say. I’ll never be able to talk real good to nobody ‘bout Jesus. So, I’ll just say nothin’ at all. ‘Cuz if peoples really wants to hear ‘bout Jesus, they’d ask a pastor or a priest or somebody smart like that. I don’t want to bother nobody. I just want to be liked. Yep, I’ll be really, really nice, dance around and smile a lot. I’ll shine my light that way! Stayin’ quiet, ‘sted of talkin’ ‘bout Jesus.”
Dopey denies the Promise and Power of God to give us the Words, Ways and Wisdom to share our faith in Jesus. Dopey may seem harmless enough, even cute, and oh-so-likeable! But his lies are insidious and dangerous. Dopey’s lies of not knowing nothin’ or not wanting to bother nobody are falsely humble and insecure at best, and completely untrue for someone who has accepted Jesus’ gift of salvation for himself. At worst, Dopey’s lying influence leads us to a place of apathy, lacking true compassion for the precious people around us – all who desperately need to hear about and believe in Jesus as the One through whom God’s gifts of love, salvation, healing, freedom and transformation come to us.
God tells us His truth: God calls each of us to be ambassadors of Christ. All of us, who have accepted God’s gifts of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus, are called to share in the ministry of reconciliation with people who do not yet know the love of God. Our God gives us everything we need, His Promise and Power, His Words, Ways and Wisdom, to share our hope and faith in Jesus – even as frail, flawed, finite and Dopey as we are, or think we are!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And God has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are, therefore, Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. – 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
“…do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” – Luke 12:11-12
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. – 1 Peter 3:15
God loves us and wants the very best for each of us. Killing the Spiritual Dwarf of Dopey will set us free to know the joy of living as Christ’s ambassadors, sharing in God’s glorious ministry of reconciliation as we tell others of the great hope we have in Jesus! Now, that’s something to smile and dance about!
