In three days from today it will be Christmas Eve.
Calm down. Let the true, eternal, transcending peace of Jesus calm our hearts, our minds and our pace. Let’s take a few deep, slow breaths to calm down and slow down in spite of whatever pressures we may have on us and in spite of whatever presents we may still need to find. Let the eternal love of God hold us as we consider Jesus.
Consider Jesus. Consider Jesus who came to interrupt and intervene in our lives with His love. Consider Jesus and know that the full, true, eternal meaning of Christmas goes far beyond that precious little baby boy born in a barn and laid in a manger. Far beyond that star shining brightly and the angel choir giving a magnificent sound and light show to some bewildered shepherds in a field.
Consider Jesus. Consider the full, true, eternal meaning of Christmas and the fullness of who Jesus is. Consider Jesus who is our amazing, sovereign, almighty God, our Messiah, our Savior, our Shepherd, our Lord and our Life. Consider Jesus who loves us beyond all sense and reason. Consider Jesus so we will know how very deep and intimate, and truly beyond measure, is the fullness of God’s love for us. Consider Jesus so we will know and trust how very constant and powerful His presence is with us, and how very unfailing and unending is the fullness of His love poured into us.
I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3:17-19
Consider Jesus and let our God speak to each of our hearts so that we will know the truth of how very precious we are to our Lord, and how eternally protected we are by our Lord. Consider Jesus so that we will each be completely convinced that there is nothing – no circumstance, no situation, no person, no power, no danger, no dilemma, no fear, no failure, no suffering, no shame – that could ever separate us from the unfailing love of our God. Consider Jesus and believe that it was out of God’s unlimited, unfailing, outrageous love for us that Jesus was born to us, to die for us and to rise again to give us eternal life!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
Let’s count down, calm down and consider Jesus in this season and in every season of each of our lives!
