In five days from today it will be Christmas Eve.
Five short, fast days. Many of us may still have far too many things to do in order to feel and be fully prepared for Christmas. Fully prepared at work. Fully prepared at church. At home.
How about your heart? Is your heart fully prepared for Christmas?
This would probably be a good time for each of us to take care of our hearts. To take just a few extra minutes, right now, to take a deep breath, or two or three or ninety-seven, as we count down to Christmas.
This would be a good time to calm down and put down our gotta-do-that-and-that list.
This would be a good time to calm down in the midst of our sadness, loss, frustration or hurt.
This would be a good time to calm down in the midst of the madness of the struggles and stresses we’re having with some of the people we’ll be spending Christmas with this year.
To calm down period. Even if some of the plans that have been planned just aren’t our plans.
This would be a very good time to consider Jesus. To intentionally and actively consider Jesus. Consider His love. Consider His joy. Consider His peace. Consider His hope.
Consider His sacrifice. Consider His utter humility. Consider His victory over sin and death.
Consider the gift of eternal life that is given by the Father to all who believe in Jesus!
God gave His Son Jesus to us out of His incomparable, incomprehensible love for us. Jesus came as a baby born to us. Born to die for us. Born to obliterate the power of sin and death over us. Jesus was born to die and rise again so that we, who believe, would be birthed into eternal life with our Holy God. Consider Jesus.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. – John 3:36
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” – John 5:24
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. – 1 John 5:11
Let’s count down, calm down and consider Jesus in this season and in every season of each of our lives!
