As we get close to this year’s end, many of us may find ourselves being a bit reflective about our lives and our faith journeys as followers of Christ and as members of the Body of Christ. When it comes to our faith and how we live it out, it’s always a good idea to honestly ask some introspective questions and to ask some broader perspective questions as well. It’s always a good idea to invite our God into our question-asking sessions, courageously inviting our God to be the One who answers us – because our God always has each of us intimately in His focus and our God always keeps His eternal perspective and purposes in His sight.
With honesty, and with courage to hear God’s loving, grace and truth filled answers, let’s each ask ourselves some of those introspective questions about our faith journeys:
How does my life – my mind, my heart, my words, my actions, my reactions, my interactions, my relationships, my stewardship of my body and of all my resources of time, energy, talent, money and material goods – reflect the passionate love that Christ has for me? Reflect that I belong to Jesus? That I am His follower? How does my life reflect the sacrificial, unfailing love that cost Jesus His holy life to save me, forgive me, set me free and to transform me to be more and more like Him?
With honesty, and with courage to hear God’s loving, grace and truth filled answers, let’s each ask ourselves some broader perspective questions about our faith journeys:
What am I doing, not just for my own spiritual growth, but to help grow the Body of believers right where I am in my own home church, in my own community, in my own region? What am I doing to help grow the Kingdom of God? What am I doing to help strengthen the Body of Christ? Since we are to be ambassadors of Christ, what am I doing to care for, protect, support and encourage the whole Body of Christ – locally, nationally, internationally – so that we, as the Body, may represent our Lord more truly and beautifully and lovingly to those who do not yet know the truth, beauty and love of Jesus?
As we honestly ask ourselves these questions and courageously open ourselves to seeking God’s perspective, passion and purpose for both our personal and universal Body of Christ growth, I have no doubt that our God will answer!
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. – 1 Peter 4:7-11
Let’s each allow God’s Spirit and God’s Word to minister to us and challenge us – whatever life season and circumstances we may be in, whatever gifts we may have been given – to live and grow personally as a follower of Jesus. And, as ambassadors of Christ and members of His Body, may we live with purpose and passion to help grow the Body of Christ and to make the Lord Jesus known to all those around us – all for the glory of God the Father!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
