In eight days from today it will be Christmas Eve.
I pray that each of us are choosing to breathe deeply, quiet our minds and allow ourselves the time and perspective to honestly count down, calm down and consider Jesus more and more as we move toward Christmas.
Yes, we can acknowledge that we have much yet to do – much that we want to do, much that we should do and, just maybe, some things we only think we need to do. Let’s intentionally choose to consider Jesus. Actively choose to acknowledge Jesus as the King of kings and Lord of lords, making Him our focus and the ruler of our heads, hearts, hurried schedules, hopes and plans, actions and attitudes. Allow the mindset of Jesus to shape all that we do and every way we interact with all others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient even to death – even death on a cross!
Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. – Philippians 2:5-11
Consider Jesus. Choose His mindset.
Give thanks to our God who interrupts and intervenes in our lives through the giving of His life for ours; giving Himself humbly and sacrificially – first in a manger and then on a cross!
Give thanks to our God who knows exactly what each one of us most desperately needs, and knows the One who alone is able to triumphantly and eternally give it all to us: our Lord Jesus Christ! Jesus alone is our Savior, Redeemer, Rescuer and Lover of our souls. Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, is the only One able to fill our lives with unfailing, incomprehensible love, joy, peace and freedom – now and for all eternity! That is something to seriously consider.
So, as we continue with all of our gift-giving and celebration preparations and plans, let’s slow down enough to reflect on God’s truest and most perfect love gift of all, our Lord Jesus.
Let’s count down, calm down and consider Jesus in this season and in every season of each of our lives!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
