November 30

Shhhhh…It can wait. I know there is so much for all of us to do. So much time pressure at home, at work, at school, at church. And, oh my! We’re right in the midst of the big holiday season. Thanksgiving just came and Christmas is fast approaching. There are so many things we need to finish, deadlines to meet and commitments to fulfill.

Shhhhh…It can wait.

Breathe deeply and take some moments, some grace-filled moments, to let God lift you out of the worry and the warring, the pressure and the panic. Take some moments, some grace-filled moments, to listen attentively to our Lord’s holy love and holy messages about being still and being quiet.

“Be still and know that I am God…” – Isaiah 46:10

This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” – Psalm 30:15

The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. – Isaiah 32:17

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters… Psalm 23:2

From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet… Psalm 76:8

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. Proverbs 17:1

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him… – Psalm 37:7

The LORD your God…[will quiet you with his love] in his love he will no longer rebuke you. – Zephaniah 3:17

Breathe deeply and slowly, taking in our Lord’s holy love and holy messages to us.

Shhhhh…It can wait. Be still. Be quiet. Let the truth of our Lord’s absolute sovereignty over every moment, and our Lord’s eternal perspective over every circumstance, strengthen us in the understanding that: Whatever it is, it can wait – at least for these few grace-filled moments of being still and being quiet with our Lord.

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                              Sylane
