Today many little ones, and some not so little ones, will be walking in their neighborhoods, going door-to-door seeking treats from both friends and strangers and eating lots and lots of candy. All the while they’ll be dressed up in some pretty funny, scary and crazy costumes. Clothed in some rather unusual wardrobes.
Our God has something far better for us to taste than even the sweetest, most yummy candy. (Yes! Even better than dark chocolate!)
Our God has given us His living and active Word, His unfailing love and His omnipresent Spirit. And these are absolutely delicious and eternally lasting!
Taste and see that the LORD is good! – Psalm 34:8
If we would only ask our God for what He wants to give us, seek our God and His kingdom and knock on His door, we would receive more than we could have ever hoped or imagined.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. – 2 Peter 1:2
And as for dressing up, why don’t we, as God’s deeply loved children, choose to dress ourselves in the clothing – in the eternally beautiful and transforming wardrobe – that God has provided for each of us by the power of His Spirit and the victory of Jesus over sin and death?
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. – Colossians 3:12-14
Let’s each taste and see that our Lord is good! Let’s each get dressed in the eternally beautiful and transforming wardrobe designed for us by our Heavenly Father! In Christ, we’ll never eat better or look better! Or live better!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
