A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all the people will together see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” – Isaiah 40:3-5
Have you had someone call to you, talk with you, lovingly share the Word of the Lord with you? Share the Word of the Lord’s power to transform your life? Have you listened?
Have you taken God’s Word into your wilderness? Into your places of thoughts, words, actions and reactions where you still tend to wander and rebel? Have you taken God’s Word into your wilderness places so that you may know and live the adventure and fulfillment of walking with the Almighty, Living God in amazing intimacy and with astounding power?
Have you taken God’s Word into your desert? Into those places of endless struggle, searing pressure and the shifting sands of insecurity? Have you taken God’s Word into exactly where you need the Lord’s truth to touch your heart, renew your mind and refresh your spirit so that you may know the sweet and filling, freely flowing life that springs from His Word?
Have you taken God’s Word into your deep valleys of loneliness, rejection, disappointment, hurt, loss and sadness so that God’s Spirit may lift you up with His unfailing love, hold you in His eternal presence, comfort you with His transcending peace and fill you with His perfect hope?
Have you taken God’s Word into the mountains and hills of your life, into those places where it seems that you face insurmountable obstacles? Those places where you believe you are not able to forgive that hateful person, where you’re not able to heal from that addiction, not able to be set free from victimhood and self-inflicted failure, not able to be filled with peace in the midst of turmoil and chaos in your family or at work? Have you taken God’s Word into those places where it is by His Word and Spirit that both your mind and your life may be transformed by His love to make you more and more like Jesus? Have you taken God’s Word into those places where His power is made perfect in your weakness? And you are made into more than a conqueror?
Have you taken God’s Word into your own rugged and rough places that are formed by and filled with pride and prejudice, selfishness and self-righteousness, lust and lying? Have you taken God’s Word into those places so that God may transform you, refine you, smooth you, balance you, strengthen you and make you to be safe and level ground for the other people in your life to be around?
Let us listen. Let us allow the Word of God to enter fully into all of our thoughts and ways. And together we will see the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ revealed before us and in us!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
