Have you ever wondered what God is asking you to do as His follower, as His child, and as His ambassador in this world? Have you ever thrown your arms up in confusion or exasperation with the people around you because you’re just not sure how you’re supposed to act around them? How you’re supposed to interact with them? Some of these people are easy to interact with and we feel comfortable, and even confident, around them. Then there are those other people who are so much more challenging or annoying to us. And still others whose habits and lifestyles we can’t even begin to fathom or feel comfortable around. What does God want from us then?
Come on! We do know! In absolute clarity, and in a fabulously sword-to-the-heart-of-the-matter directive, our God does not in any way cloud or hide His greatest command and call on our lives when it comes to what we are to do as His followers and how we are to interact with others – all others! Our God has made it perfectly clear throughout His Word!
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. – Deuteronomy 6:5
“…love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.” – Leviticus 19:18
“…love your enemies, do good to them.” – Luke 6:35
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12
“This is my command: Love each other.” – John 15:17
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love [live a life of love], just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11
Love must be sincere. – Romans 12:9
So, come on! We do know! Our God has made it perfectly clear throughout His Word!
Let’s each choose to actively and intentionally love others, even our enemies, with the grace and the truth, the compassion and the forgiveness, the power and the possibilities that come only through the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
