Although we can’t know everything on this side of heaven, God has been actively speaking to us and continually reaching out to us in very clear and powerful ways throughout the centuries.
God interrupts our lives – and our comfort-complacency zone of ignoring Him – in order to speak His powerful, eternal message of grace and truth to us. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God’s Holy Son, our Lord has spoken the full message of His everlasting love and purifying forgiveness for each of us who will listen and believe.
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. – Hebrews 1:1-3
God chose, out of His passionate, persistent, chasing-us-down love, to speak over and over again to His people through His prophets. Many times. In various ways. Yet, so many of those who heard did not and would not choose to believe God’s message of love and life.
But God’s love for us never stops. God’s speaking His message to us never stopped either. It just got fuller, clearer and beyond our imagination. And the fullness of God’s message, and the fullest reflection of His image, came to us in Jesus. God became man and died for us.
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. – Colossians 1:15-17
God spoke His definitive and ultimate message of love for all peoples of the world, His message of outrageous love for you and me, through giving us Jesus – and giving Jesus over to die for the forgiveness of our sins so that we might live.
God never stops speaking to us. God never stops pursuing us with His love.
Our choice is to listen and believe. And live.
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
