March 20

We have been given a new day! May a new song of thanks flow from our hearts!

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. – Psalm 96:1-2

Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. – Psalm 95:1-2

Sing to the Lord! Sing out a new song of thanksgiving to our Almighty God! Here’s just a very little bit of my thanksgiving heart song to our Lord. Feel free to join in or, even better, sing your own new song to our Holy Lord!

Thank You for YOU, Lord! Thank You for Jesus, my Savior and Lord, who gave His all for me! Thank you for this new day! Thank You for the gift of life on this earth! Thank You for the gift of eternal life with You! Life is Yours alone to give, and You have given it to me! You fill me with hope, joy, purpose and oh-so-much love! Thank You, Lord, for the people I love! Thank You for the people who love me! And, yes, thank You, too, Lord, for all the people who have hurt, hated and rejected me! Each one was given life and breath by You through Your holy love, purpose and power! Thank you for the sweet and easy times in my life, Lord, when my heart can easily sing thanksgiving to You! Thank You for the bitter and hard times in my life, Lord, when my heart is breaking – yet You keep me absolutely assured of Your love, presence and goodness as You sing over me (Zephaniah 3:17)! Thank You for the clear evidence You give me of Your order and wisdom, beauty and love in the wonder of Your creation! Thank You for the lengthening days of sunlight and the signs of renewed life and color that come with spring! And, Lord, thank You that people just smile a little bit more, and a little more freely, when the promise and hope of life are evident to them!

Thankfulness is one of the most powerful, mind-quieting, frustration-and-anger-diminishing and healing activities we could ever choose. Expending our energy, our efforts, our thoughts, our talk and even (or maybe especially) our self-talk on being thankful is truly perspective-renewing and life-transforming. Looking for, recognizing and giving thanks for, the evidence of God’s caring, compassionate love for us and His continual presence with us softens our hearts and refreshes our hope. Looking for, recognizing and giving thanks for, the evidence of the kindness, help and encouragement that other people give us strengthens our relationships and refreshes our peace.

Holy Lord, please open our eyes to see Your love and power at work all around us – in creation, in others and in ourselves. Open our hearts and spirits to accept Your truest evidence of the promise and hope of life given through the salvation that comes through Jesus Christ. Open our minds and mouths to sing a new song of thankfulness to You continually in this new day, this new season and every new day of our lives. You alone are God. You alone are the giver of life. Thank You, Lord, for being You!

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                              Sylane
