“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also.
They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ sent Him – as the promised Messiah and Savior declared throughout Scripture – first to His sheep, the Jews. But! God’s salvation was never intended for the Jews alone, but for all non-Jews, for all Gentiles. These are God’s sheep that are not of this Jewish pen.
It is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:
first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
All of creation belongs to the Lord. All of the peoples of this earth – from every tribe, from every language, from every nation – belong to the Lord. And God reaches out in His love, reaches out to all, with the truth of His eternal gospel.
Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim
to those who live on the earth-to every nation, tribe, language and people.
The eternal gospel declares that the full price for the redemption and salvation of every person has been fully paid through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God. And the full assurance of eternal life with our Holy God has been fully promised through the conquering resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is only one shepherd over all creation, over all peoples – whether Jew or Gentile. There is only one Messiah, one Lamb of God – our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for all.
And [in Heaven] they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy…because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God persons
from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
And Jesus Christ will bring in all of His sheep. Jesus must bring them in because He is the only one who can – He alone is the faithful, eternal God of all! And His sheep, from Jerusalem…to Judea…to Samaria…and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), will hear His voice and be told the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord!
His sheep will listen to His voice. His sheep will believe. His sheep will be saved. And the sheep – wherever they live, whoever they are, whatever their tribe or language or nation or people – will join as one flock in unity, love and victory with the Lord Jesus Christ as the one true shepherd of all for all eternity!
In love, peace and purposeful passion,
