Have you and God had a question and answer session lately? Our God created us to be in communion and community – in intimate relationship with Him. To grow in this relationship with our God, we need to be in conversation with Him. So, again, I ask: Have you and God had a question and answer session lately?
Our God actually invites us into this intimate conversation with Him. Amazing.
This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it – the LORD is his name: “Call to me and I will answer you
and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
So, ask away! Yes, with a certain humility acknowledging that God is God, the holy and sovereign One over all that exists. And we are not. Yes, with a certain understanding that we won’t understand everything on this side of Heaven. Still, ask away! Our God invites us, and wants us, to know Him deeply and all that He reveals to us through His Word and His Spirit.
As we’re asking God questions, we need to be open to answering some questions ourselves.
“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Jesus said to [Martha], “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
Do you believe this?”
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
Sometimes both the question and the answer are found within the same passage of Scripture.
“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35, 37-39
Let’s each have ongoing question and answer sessions with our God. Expect God to answer. Expect God to ask questions. Be blessed and challenged by all God reveals and doesn’t reveal on this side of Heaven – knowing nothing can separate us from the intimacy of His love.
