Every Spiritual Dwarf is a liar. Each of them denies some truth of God.

Hear Whiny as he speaks his lies: “I can’t believe everything keeps going wrong for me. Life is so unfair! What did I do to deserve all these troubles, illnesses and complications? All these family issues? All this misjudgment? How long am I going to have to put up with all these hard times? All these hard people? Why does my computer always crash? Why does my car keep breaking down? Why do bad things always happen to me? Whyyyyyy Me?”

Whiny denies the Hope of God and God’s Eternal Perspective. Whiny lays down a heavy, smelly, dark blanket over our hearts and our minds so that we begin to suffocate on our own self-focused, self-pitying attitudes. Whiny blinds our vision from the Hope of God so completely that we lose all ability to see beyond our own dim, depressing, circumstantial, temporal and warped perspectives. Whiny keeps our eyes focused so inwardly on our limited interpretation of our problems that the freeing truth found in God’s Eternal Perspective is diminished, distrusted and discarded. God’s Hope goes unseen, unacknowledged and inexperienced.

God tells us His truth: We are not alone. God is with us. God offers us courage and peace even in the midst of the most horrendous, troubling times of our lives! We have a Savior who endured horrendous opposition and conquered! In Christ we have Hope now and forever. Our God is able to shift our self-pitying perspective to His Eternal Perspective so that we may trust Him to help us overcome all that life would throw at us!

Have I not commanded you: be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. – Hebrews 12:2-3

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed…because we know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence…Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all! – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 14, 16-17

May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit! – Romans 15:13

God loves us and wants the very best for each of us. Killing the Spiritual Dwarf of Whiny will set us free from the darkness of self-pity to live in the very present, conquering Hope of our God and His Eternal Perspective!
