Rooted. Where Are You Rooted? In What Are You Rooted?

Right now I am living in two different cities — on two different coasts of the US. One home is in Princeton, NJ. One is in Los Gatos, CA. A little more rootless than I would like to be, at least, geographically.

Yet, God makes it so clear that our rootedness has nothing to do with our physical home, our surroundings or even our circumstances. We are to be rooted and established in God’s Love. There alone is our true place of belonging. There alone is our true home. There alone is our true source of power.

I pray, as the Apostle Paul did, that each of us…

“being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19

Being rooted in God’s Love takes us far beyond the greatest knowledge this world could ever comprehend. Being rooted in God’s Love offers us the mightiest of power and position — now and for all eternity. God’s Love dwarfs every power source and position of power this world could ever bestow.

Being rooted in God’s Love fills us with and transforms by the sacrificial, unfailing Love of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are to be rooted in this same Love that moved Jesus to choose the cross…rooted in this same Love by which Jesus conquered all the power of sin and death for all time!

Take time right now to just take in the Truth of God’s Love for you. Thank God that no matter what may shake up your roots — move them or destroy them — here on this earth, this is still True:

“…not anything in all creation will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39

Choose to be rooted in the Love of our God. At every moment. In every circumstance. In every relationship. In every place.
