Sometimes we run around like crazy or, at least, let our minds run around in crazy circles trying to figure out what we need to do, and worry about all of the what ifs. I call this the Hamster Dance-you know how hamsters run around furiously in their little cage wheel, not really getting anywhere. We need to seek God with this same energy and passion. God does have plans for us, and they are good.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Personal Reflections from Sylane I have a pretty direct suggestion: STOP the Hamster Dance!
Take a deep breath. No matter what the circumstances of our our lives, we have to Stop the Hamster Dance of worry (or anger or bitterness or…). We each need to choose and choose and choose to trust God. Yeah! Get on that path, not wheel, of thinking!
Trust that God already knows all you are going through. He does. Trust that God loves you. He does. Trust that God intends good for you. God’s Way provides hope and a future. Read God’s words in today’s Scripture, again. Trust that God is a Truth Teller.
Beyond trusting God, we each need to step back and look at what all that crazy worry has done for us. I’m thinking–pretty much nothing! (Except for maybe some restless nights, ulcers and short nails.)
We need to admit that all that energy poured into our crazy worry-filled thoughts resolves absolutely nothing, and gets us absolutely no where. Just like that stupid, constantly spinning–held in one place–hamster wheel.
Stop the Hamster Dance! It will take some energy–and making the intentional choice–to change our thinking to trust in God’s truths more than all those crazy scenarios we let run through our heads.
But, oh darlin’s! When we choose to “keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25) that is one sweet dance that moves us forward by the rhthym of love, hope and peace. That’s the dance, with God as my dance partner, that I want for my life!
in love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
