Some things just make sense. There is what would seem to be a natural response and order of things. The sun rises and the earth is warmed. So it is with God’s love: we received it freely from God; our response should be to share God’s love freely with others.
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11
Personal Reflections from Sylane: We complicate things so much. We ego-tize [okay, I'm making words up]things so often.
Truth is, it isn’t so complicated. And it isn’t about us. It’s about God–reaching out to each and every one of us in His perfect, life-giving, all-powerful love. And since God loves us so outrageously much, we ought to-should-must love others.
Our best and most perfect way of loving God is to love on the people around us. This is what Jesus did. And He fully loved His Abba.
Really. Let’s de-complicate things. De-egotize them.
When it comes to what we ought to do–it’s so clear. It isn’t about us. It’s about Jesus-and becoming more and more like Him because His love is transforming us. Urging us to love others more like He does.
Loving on someone NOT for what we can get out of it. But loving on them because it is right. Because others need to be loved–just as we have been by our God. And loving on others because it just makes sense.
Anything less than loving on others just doesn’t.
Oh, this kind of love might not make sense to people who don’t yet know the love of Jesus Christ. It may even look down-right foolish at times.
That’s okay if it doesn’t make sense to some. God’s ways are truth, freedom and life. All the more reason to love on those who haven’t yet received God’s love and salvation! (Oh! God has written a number of “foolish-love” stories into my life! Often when I’m traveling on planes, trains and sub-ways!)
So, let’s not complicate or egotize our interactions with others so much. God loves us. We should love others. It just makes sense.
And it brings joy. To God. To others. To us.
In love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
