The secret things belong to the LORD our God…Deuteronomy 29:29
There are many things that I will never know on this side of Heaven. There are many things that I won’t be able to understand or will ever be able to get my head around completely. These secret things—whether they are about the mysteries of God, the mysteries of the created universe, or the mysteries about our human experiences of joy and suffering, love and hate, life and death—are not mine to know. Not fully. Not now. Not here.
And yet, the LORD our God, does not leave all things as unknown, mysterious or out of our personal understanding. No, the LORD has revealed things to us…and given these revelations of His love and law to belong to us…and to lead us.
…but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29
And the LORD our God’s fullest revelation of His love and law…the LORD our God’s fullest representation of Himself…is made known to us through Jesus, the One and Only Son of the Most High God.
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Jesus Christ is the ultimate revelation of the LORD our God. His sacrificial death on the cross as the payment for our sins, His astounding victory over death and His eternal authority—are the things revealed that the LORD our God has offered to us to know and believe…and live by with purpose and passion!
Do these revealed things belong to you? Are they your faith beliefs? Does Jesus belong to you? Do you belong to Jesus? Is Jesus—God’s fullest revelation of His love and law—leading your life? Are you following?
In love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
