Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.’
Then the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’
I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you…for everyone who asks receives…”
Ask God. Ask God with faith and fervency…with passion and persistence. If what you are asking for comes from a heart that is seeking to offer love…and welcome…kindness…and rest and refreshment for another—then what you are asking for lines up fully with the loving, welcoming, kind, rest and refreshment giving heart of our Holy Living Lord. Ask. And keep on asking. These prayers—this kind of asking—God loves to answer.
Are you coming to God on behalf of others? For their salvation? For their being welcomed into the Kingdom of God? For their deeper freedom, fuller peace and greater understanding of the transforming love of our Lord Jesus Christ? Are you coming to God asking for these things for yourself???
I have seen the gates of hell and the strongholds of sin stormed and destroyed in my own life and in the lives of those I love and for whom I have relentlessly gone before my Abba to plead for their salvation, healing and restoration! God wants us to care enough about ourselves and others to ask for His power to be fully released in our lives and in theirs!
So! Ask passionately and persistently for those things that line up with the grace and truth and the unfailing love and perfect will of God. Ask! And it will be given. That is God’s Word. That is God’s promise.
In love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
