That whole BALANCE thing—SHALOM with my GOD—really is essential to my emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well-being! Yours, too!
Did I just hear somebody say, “DUH!” ??
Oh! Wait a minute that was me! Or rather I should say MY HEART!
A couple mornings ago I got up at 5am ready to just jump right into what I needed to do because I had a lot to do before 9:30am.
I needed to prepare a special (and fabulously delicious) brunch for some very precious ministry friends who would be arriving mid-morning.
I needed to clean-up my house a bit because it was in its current state of general (although not disgusting) messiness—which I call: my-writer-zone-MESS-in-order-to-finish-writing-CONVINCED!
I needed to take a shower. And wash my hair. And put on make-up. And put on clothes other than my sweats. Which I hadn’t done for a few days because I was in my current state of general (although not disgusting) messiness—which I call: my-writer-zone-MESS-in-order-to-finish-writing-CONVINCED!
So! I thought God and I could just start our morning out chatting while I prepared my spinach-artichoke quiche, ginger-spice breakfast cake, fresh-from-the-bakery blueberry and raspberry scones (Hey! They had to be warmed!), luscious fruit bowl, home-made whipped cream and freshly-ground-then-French-pressed-coffee. (Yeah! Sounds fabulously delicious, right?)
I thought God and I could chat while I picked up my house (at least the most obvious parts!).
I thought God and I could chat while I got my shower. And washed my hair. And put on my make-up. And put on clothes other than my sweats.
BUT! That was NOT GOD’s plan! And that wasn’t what MY HEART was telling me either! DUH!!!
I needed GOD’s BALANCE—GOD’s SHALOM. The day before had been an emotional day for me—a long, schedule-changing, deep-writing, deep-thinking, somebody-totally-ignoring-me-on-a-sensitive-issue kind of day. And I needed to really seek God. And my heart knew that!
My heart knew it wasn’t enough to lightly chat with God while I did other things! Not then. Not that morning anyway.
So! My heart did what any smart heart would do! My heart YELLED at me!
My heart says of You, “Seek His face!”
Your face, LORD, I will seek!
My heart knew that BALANCE and SHALOM would come to me only by stopping all other things, all other thoughts and all other activities in order to just fully and truly seek God’s face…which is attached to God’s Heart…which gives LOVE and Balance and Shalom to me…and to my heart!
Yeah! Pretty smart heart! I’m thankful I listened! Even if it did have to YELL at me!
How ’bout you? You listening to your heart to “Seek His Face!” ??
In love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
