God is actively watching us. But God isn’t doing this to play a game of Whack-A-Mole–with His eyes moving all over the board to bring down a mighty blow on our heads the minute we pop out of our hole! No! Our God is watching us, ready to strengthen our hearts as we seek to commit our lives to Him.
For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9
Personal Reflections from Sylane: Our God watches His people to strengthen our hearts. Not to crush us. Not to smack us down. To strengthen our hearts.
God sees our hearts–where we may be hurting or bruised or just very, very sad. And our God comforts intimately–giving us His strength for our hearts.
And God will confront us and correct us when He sees we are doing wrong. This, too, is to strengthen our hearts. Sin weakens us. God’s intervention with His truth and His ways purify and strengthen us.
I am so thankful for both God’s comfort and correction. Both come purely from God’s intimate love for me. Both strengthen my heart. And God wants me–wants all of His people–to be strong. Really, really strong.
We are under God’s Love-Watch.
Would our husbands, wives, children, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, boy-friends, giril-friends, close friends say they are under our love-watch?
Do those who are “our people” sense that our eyes are watching them to strengthen their hearts? To encourage them? To guide them in God’s loving, best ways? To give them comfort? To give them understanding and compassion?
Or do our watchful eyes–and our subsequent words and actions–hurt them and weaken them? Put them on guard? On the defensive? Do we shut them down or help bring them out?
Do “our people” feel braver and stronger having been under our gaze? Or do they just want to run for cover? Are we playing Whack-A-Mole with their hearts?
As God’s people, let’s do things God’s way. Let’s purposefully choose to do a love-watch today. Let’s comfort, protect, encourage and strengthen the hearts of “our people.”
I know God will be watching us–and our hearts will be strengthened, too.
In love, peace and purposeful passion, Sylane
