We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3
So many people flow in and out of our lives.
Some people, even in the briefest of encounters, may impact our lives in profound ways because they act as, and are, vessels of God’s love, grace and truth. Right then. Right for that particular moment and for a specific purpose.
Other people, over the course of many years, may have been (and still are) beautiful and powerful reflections of Christ to us because of their long-lasting faithfulness, loving service and patient, hope-filled endurance. These precious ones continually choose to ask God to lead their lives so that they may be vessels of His love, grace and truth – each and every day, in each and every encounter and relationship they have.
Take time to think about these people – even if you can’t quite pull up their names or even their faces from your memory bank. Think about those people who God used in a particular moment and for a specific reason in your life. Think about those people who God used over and over again, over many, many seasons of your life in many, many ways.
Take time to thank God for these people. Thank God for how He powerfully and deeply – gently or sternly, surprisingly or expectedly – used each of them in your life. All because He loves you! Lift these people in prayer. Be encouraged by them. Be challenged by them.
Take time to ask God to transform you to be more and more like Jesus. Take time to ask God to increase your works produced by faith, your labor prompted by love and your endurance flowing from the inspired hope you have in our Lord Jesus Christ!
Then, be sure to take time to let God do His good work in you, knowing you can be…
…confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
May each of us allow God to make us always ready to impact and influence the lives of others – whether for a brief and fleeting moment or over the course of many years – with the love, grace and truth of our Lord Jesus Christ!
As we do, our God will be moving the hearts and minds of those whose lives He has allowed us to impact, to lift their voices in thanksgiving to Him, glorifying and blessing the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings we have been in their lives.
How beautiful is that! So, think about and thank God for the people who have blessed your life in oh-so-many different ways! And be blessed with the very real possibility that you will also be on someone else’s thinking and thanking list!
