When we believe, and put our faith in, the truth that Jesus is the Son of God who died for the forgiveness of our sins and rose from the dead to give us eternal life with our Heavenly Father, our salvation for all of eternity is accomplished. Done! Finished! Complete!
Isn’t that fabulous? It truly is the Good News – the Gospel from our Holy God. We need never to fear damnation or death again. Jesus bore all the punishment for our sins. We are forgiven completely. Jesus conquered death through His eternal resurrection. We have been given the promise of eternal life from the Life Giver Himself.
Our salvation is absolutely sure from the day, from the very moment, we accept Jesus as God’s Messiah, as the Savior of our lives. A work fully completed through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Our transformation, however, requires us to make day by day, moment by moment choices as we yield to God’s renewing work within us to make us more like Him.
Jesus Christ saves us from the power of sin and death. Jesus, just as passionately, desires to transform us and put an end to all of our habits and patterns of thinking, speaking, acting, reacting and interacting that limit us from living in the full grace, truth, freedom, power and love He has made available to us right now on this side of heaven.
So, then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. – Colossians 2:6-7
We should overflow with thankfulness for our eternal salvation! Its promise of eternal life with our Holy God is beyond hope, beyond joy – and I believe heaven is well beyond anything I could ever, ever imagine. We should overflow with thankfulness for the unlimited resurrection power of our Lord Jesus, who is able to bring true and amazing transformation into our lives – into our minds, mouths, hearts and souls. And we can be…
…confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6
Our Lord desires to continually free us from every twisted lie and destructive pattern we have. Our Lord desires to continually transform us to reflect His life and glory through each of our lives.
…we are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory… – 2 Corinthians 3:18
God’s salvation has given us forgiveness and life for all eternity. Let our thanksgiving overflow! God’s transformation works lovingly and continually within us to give us a life of freedom, peace, purpose and power – right here and now. Let our thanksgiving overflow!
