In nine days from today it will be Christmas Eve.

Take a breath right in the midst of all the time pressures you’re feeling at work, at home, at church and with all the extra things you need to get done during this holy (?) season – all the running around and buying gifts and wrapping gifts, ordering gifts and getting them delivered, writing out cards, decorating the inside and the outside of your home, planning, hosting and attending all kinds of special gatherings. Calm down and take a breath.

Take a deep breath. Take a moment to recognize that the deep breath you just took is a gift from the Living Sovereign God of all Creation. The One who loves all of us beyond measure.

Today, all that our lives are right now, is a precious gift that we have been given. Today, Jesus wants each of us to know Him and trust Him and consider His great love for us.

Consider Jesus. Consider His love and let that perfect love of Jesus calm you from stressing about having to make everything perfect or, at least, appear perfect for the perfect Christmas.

The perfect Christmas has already happened! And it happened in a stable in Bethlehem in the land of Judah. The midwives didn’t make it. The animals smelled. So did the awestruck shepherds. The star shone brightly. The angels sang brilliantly. Mary and Joseph trusted their God. And Jesus our Savior was born! No Christmas could ever be more perfect than that.

Consider Jesus. Consider His love and let that perfect love of Jesus lift you from all the imperfections of this life, from your sadness and disappointment, your agitation and frustration, your sin and your shame, your loneliness and loss. Let the perfect love of Jesus hold, calm and comfort your heart, especially now when you’re not feeling any of that stuff the Christmas songs are singing about.

Consider Jesus. Consider His love, the love from the One who is our…

Immanuel – God with us – Matthew 1:23

Consider His presence with us as the greatest present any of us could ever receive.

Consider Jesus. Consider His love, the love from the One who is absolutely sovereign, eternally present and almighty in power. Consider the One who delights in us, loves us deeply in such tender ways and sings over us, and to us, with joy!

“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you, in his love he will no longer rebuke you [he will quiet you with his love], he will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17

Let’s count down, calm down and consider Jesus in this season and in every season of each of our lives!

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                              Sylane
