ALWAYS, IN ALL WAYS

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. – Psalm 19:7

All the time, compared to the Lord of all wisdom, I am the simple! Sometimes, I’m just a plain fool! That’s every time I go my own way, even if it’s in my own head. That’s every time I ignore God’s perfect law that would refresh my soul and fill me with His wisdom. Always, in all ways.

The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. – Psalm 19:8

It’s true! The precepts of the Lord are right! And I just don’t feel right, in any way at all, when I ignore and dismiss, deny and reject my God’s rule over my life – over all of me. My thoughts. My attitudes. My reactions. My words. My behaviors. God has a right to rule me and lead me. My life belongs to Him and He loves me unfailingly. Following my own ways, responding in any hateful, prideful ways to anyone or anything at any time – even if no one else ever knows – is heart breaking to my God who loves me like crazy. And by His love He breaks my heart too, in order to draw me back to His ways, His precepts of love, grace and truth. Always, in all ways.

And there is joy. Real joy. Deep joy. Sweet joy. Surprising joy – every time my first thoughts, attitudes, reactions, words and behaviors flow from the uniting of God’s Spirit with my spirit – with my mind, mouth and behaviors! God’s commands are radiant! It is so good whenever all that I am – seen and unseen – can come fully into the radiance of God’s light with joy! My eyes shine with the light of thankfulness in those moments. And I believe God’s eyes also shine with His love for me, knowing that doing things His way is for my very best. Always, in all ways.

The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the LORD are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. – Psalm 19:9-13

To purify and strengthen gold all of the dross, all that is impure within it, must be burned away. And so it is with me. My sins, hidden and willful, must all be burned away. For my strength and for my purity as a child of the King. God’s Word warns me. In listening to Him, in obeying Him there is great reward. And it is sweet. And it is strong. And it is pure. Always, in all ways.

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. – Psalm 19:14

Yes, Lord! This is my prayer. Purify me in all I am – in all that I speak, write, think and do. Purify me. Always, in all ways. Amen!

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                              Sylane
