Before the month of October is done, I want to share my continuing joy with all of you about what God did in Nantucket during the retreat there from October 7-12.This retreat, hosted by Darcy Creech on her own property, was the first one (of many!?) intended to launch High Point “as a place to renew, restore and rejoice in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Darcy’s vision was to offer this time and space so that each person, as a whole being – body, mind and spirit – could be refreshed through…
- eating, and learning about, healthy, delicious and nutritious foods,
- spending time in quiet and in community with others while relaxing and having fun within the beautiful rooms and grounds of High Point,
exploring the natural beauty, adventure and charm of the island of Nantucket,
- and through going deep into God’s Word and our relationship with our Lord Jesus.
It seemed very clear to all of us present that Darcy’s intentions and vision for our time at High Point were absolutely lined up with what God had desired and purposed for, with, and from each of us – long before we ever arrived!
“…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:11
Eighteen women from across the nation – all of whom are servant-leaders of Christ in various ways – carved out almost a full week of their very full lives to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to, and embrace, God’s Word. During that time, each of us became freer and more fully equipped, as Christ’s ambassadors, to Stand Strong with Open Arms – Always in All Ways (the title given to my teaching sessions).
Through God’s purposeful Word, and His powerful, freeing and unfailing love for each of us, we left that fabulous place and time as stronger, more fully committed women of God, willing and determined to reflect and share the love, grace and truth of our Lord Jesus Christ with all others – in everything we are and in everything we do. No matter what!
Thank you for praying for each of us who attended this retreat and specifically for me, as I taught multiple sessions from God’s Word. We know and believe that “…the prayer of a righteous [person] is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16. God answered your faithful prayers! One of you declared, “Nantucket will never be the same!” Nantucket isn’t, and neither are we! God’s good and powerful work in and through all the women present will continue throughout our lifetimes, and into the many lives with whom we interact, and far into the generations of people yet to be born!
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20-21
