It is time to seek the Lord. To seek our God in the midst of this moment. To seek our God right now, right where we are, wherever we are, however we are feeling – especially if we’re just not feeling like it. It’s time to seek our God today in whatever the circumstances of our day may be. It’s time to seek the Lord. And this will be true again tomorrow…and the next day…and the next day…and every day of our lives.
As we seek the Lord, we are inviting our God into our lives more fully, more intimately, more powerfully. We are asking God to make our lives His holy ground for His purposes and plans to be accomplished and achieved in us.
Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you. – Hosea 10:12
It is time to seek the Lord in all we are and in all we do. With God’s grace and truth as our planting tools, we are called and empowered to sow – deep within our hearts and minds, our souls and spirits – a righteousness that reflects the righteous character of our God. And “what is sown will be what is reaped” (Galatians 6:7). And this will be true for us because our “God is love” (1 John 4:18). As we sow in accordance with God’s righteousness, we will reap the fruit of, and be grown up in, God’s unfailing love.
To allow God’s righteousness to be sown more completely into our lives, we need to seek the Lord, allowing Him to break up any and all hardness within our lives, minds, hearts and habits that have not yet been deeply plowed up and turned over by His love. Maybe the hardness, the unplowedness, in our ground has come from feeling trampled on and sucked dry by life’s hard, hateful and hurtful circumstances or by the hard, hateful and hurtful people we encounter.
Our God understands all that may have caused the hardness of our unplowed ground – all of the hardness that seems to keep us beaten down and unfruitful. Yet, our God does not intend to keep us in that unplowed, hardened state. Our God has always meant for each of us – as those who seek Him and follow Him – to live an abundant life in Him: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). In Christ, there is nothing so hard, hateful or hurtful that our God cannot turn over and transform by the touch of His righteousness and love that come from His nail-marked hands.
It is time to seek the Lord. “Seek and you will find” (Matthew 7:7). When we seek the Lord, we will find the Lord’s righteousness – and it will be sown deeply within our lives. When we seek the Lord, we will find the Lord’s unfailing love and it will be reaped and flourish within our own lives and be generously given to others around us. When we seek the Lord, our unplowed ground will be healed, transformed, nurtured and prepared to yield an ever-increasing harvest of God’s righteousness and unfailing love.
It is time to seek the Lord today…and tomorrow…and the next day…and the next day…and every day of our lives. Because one day our Lord will shower us – transforming us completely and eternally – by the fullness of His righteousness and unfailing love!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
