NOT A WHOLE LOT OF SIMPLE! BUT A WHOLE LOT OF PEACE!

We are told to trust God. We are told to have a simple trust – a childlike trust – in our God.

Simple trust? I’m thinking there’s really not a whole lot of simple when it comes to trusting our God.

To trust God – to really trust God – takes a bold and courageous determination of our minds. To trust God – to really trust God – we must constantly and continually, actively and intentionally, choose to invite and allow God’s Word and Spirit to rule over our hearts, our minds, our thoughts, our feelings, our fears, our stresses, our anxieties, our need for some semblance of control in circumstances that may be very much out of our control. (Which really is the truth about pretty much everything and every circumstance!)

To trust God is no simple matter. To trust God – to really trust God – is a conscious, effort-filled, energy-directed choice.

God gives us a blueprint for this not-so-simple choice of trust: Prayer and Thanksgiving.

God gives us a promised blessing as we follow His blueprint of trust: Transcending Peace.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

Trusting God does not mean – nor does it promise – that each of our circumstances will always end up just as we hope, diligently plan and work for, and, even, desperately, heart-wrenchingly desire. Trusting God is not some kind of flippant fairy tale solution to the pain, brokenness and difficult challenges that we all face in our lives.

However, trusting God does mean – and always promises – that we will be given God’s transcending peace right in the midst of each of our circumstances. Trusting God does mean – and always promises – that God’s transcending peace will be at work in us, over us and through us – guarding our hearts, our minds, our thoughts and our emotions from every Lie From The Pit Of Hell (LFTPOH) that would ravage and rob us of the truth and power of the transcending peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So, no, there’s not a whole lot of simple when it comes to trusting God. We have to give everything over to Him. Over and over and over again. And that’s not done simply. That’s done by tenaciously remembering and acknowledging who our God is and who He is to us –

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace – Isaiah 9:6

The childlike part of trust – that our God wants from us and for us – does come to us when we choose to get very honest in recognizing how very much we need God. How very much not in control we are. Not so simple for most of us. But, oh! When we choose to trust who our God is and who He is to us, when we choose to go to our God in prayer and with thanksgiving, there is a whole lot of peace for us – a whole lot of transcending peace!

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                              Sylane
