Life requires energy. To be alive, certainly, we need physical energy and strength to keep us going. We were never meant to go from birth to death sensing that we’re just barely surviving. Just barely making it through. We were never meant to let all of our life’s energy be depleted, wasted or destroyed.
To truly live life – to do far more than just survive – requires far more than physical energy. We need God’s love and Spirit in our lives to live a life with an energized purpose.
We are created in the image of God. And we are meant to live out our lives in relationship with our God – intimately, intentionally and courageously. We are meant to purposefully live in such a life-confirming, purposeful way that the image and likeness of our Lord Jesus within us will be reflected in the fullest way possible – even in the most fleeting of moments, in the most challenging of circumstances and in the most difficult of relationships.
How can we live like that? Step by step by step as we keep in step with the Spirit of God and walk as Jesus walked.
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with Spirit. – Galatians 5:25
If anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live [walk] as Jesus did. – 1 John 2:5-6
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. – 2 John 1:6
Life here on this earth is outrageously brief – even if we live to a fabulous old age. And I know that I do not want my life’s energy to be depleted, wasted or destroyed because I choose to walk in my own strength, in my pride, in my selfishness, in my self-pity, in my apathy, in my worry or in my busyness. We all need to choose how we are going to live each moment of each day that we are given. Step by step by step!
I want to spend my life’s energy purposefully walking in an intimate relationship with my God. Step by step by step!
I want to spend my life’s energy purposefully walking as Jesus walked, keeping in step with the Spirit of the Living God, by loving others – in brief encounters and in each of my for a lifetime relationships – intentionally, sincerely, deeply, generously, tangibly, sacrificially and joyfully! Step by step by step!
What’s your next step? Our God will give you the energy and purpose for which He created you – to live and walk in His unfailing love! Step by step by step!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
