Love is…the very power and nature of the Living God. And God’s love is patient and kind. It is for us to fully receive. It is for us to fully give.
Love is patient, Love is kind…– 1 Corinthians 13:4
God’s love is so real. God knows exactly what we need for our own hearts to be strengthened, encouraged, protected, healed and transformed. We need God’s full and perfect love. We need God’s patient and kind love.
It is God’s love that offers us the patient understanding and gentle kindness that our hearts cry out to receive. God’s patient and kind love holds us tenderly and securely in ways that soothe our souls and offer us a place of rest and sanctuary for our minds, our bodies, our souls and our spirits.
I didn’t know much about patience or kindness growing up. Snap judgments, a hard smack across the face, cruel criticisms, ugly words – and far uglier, abusive actions were what I knew most, and most often.
But what I lived and experienced – what you may have lived or experienced – does not change who God is. Our past experiences and circumstances – no matter how soul-diminishing they may have been – do not limit the power of God to transform our lives. Our past experiences and circumstances – no matter how ugly and awful – do not change the eternal, beautiful gift God has for us. God loves us. And our God’s love is patient and kind. Always.
God’s Word is true. God’s love is true. God’s patient and kind love is full of understanding and compassion for who we truly are. Our God loves us, patiently and kindly, in the midst of all our foibles and in the mess of all our frailties and flaws.
God’s patient and kind love quiets us, slows us down, holds us safely, gently reaches into our souls, massages our hearts and refreshes our spirits.
God’s patient and kind love embraces and encourages us with the pure love that comes from our true Father, our Heavenly Abba. Each one of us is a very beloved child – a very beloved woman or a very beloved man – of our Holy God.
And our Holy God commands and empowers us to offer His patient and kind love to all those in our lives. Yes, all. No matter what we may have known or experienced from others.
God calls every one of us to love others in such a way that they will know the strengthening, encouraging, protecting, healing, transforming grace and truth of God’s patient and kind love in their own lives. Today.
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
