“I know my mommy and daddy love me no matter what!”
Years ago when we were living in France, our precious, three-year-old Erin rhythmically repeated that phrase, “I know my mommy and daddy love me no matter what!” – over and over again during a three hour train trip from Chalon-sur-Saône to Paris. With her red, curly-haired head resting on my lap, she looked up at us, her mommy and daddy, with absolute trust shining in her green eyes. What an unbelievable and beautiful sing-songy declaration of trust she was expressing about our love for her!
And I know that even as crazy much as we love both of our beautiful daughters, Erin and Julia, we are still such frail, flawed and finite human beings and oh-so-imperfect as parents.
Still, we were given our little girl’s unconditional trust that Tim and I would always have an unconditional love for her. Amazing and humbling. What an incredible statement of faith she made that day. “I know my mommy and daddy love me no matter what!”
If such a small child was able to put that much trust in her imperfect parents, believing they would always love her no matter what, how much more should each one of us choose to trust in our Heavenly Father’s love with that same confidence and joy?
Our God’s love for us is perfect. There is nothing frail, flawed or finite about our God or about the unfailing, everlasting love He has for each of us. There is absolutely nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from our God’s love. No matter what!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
I am convinced of this!
God’s love is greater than the very powers of hell.
God’s love is greater than any damaging or destructive experiences we have here on earth.
I pray that every person in this world will come to know the no matter what love of our God! May each of us become convinced – and live as if we truly are convinced – that with Jesus as our Savior and Lord, there is absolutely nothing in all creation that could ever separate any of us from the perfect, unfailing and everlasting love of our God.
No matter what!
In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ, Sylane
