IN THE BEGINNING GOD

Happy New Year! The old year is past. The New Year has arrived. We have been given a new day. A new beginning with each new moment.

Many of us across the world take time to honor the transition from one year to the next. In the beginning of this New Year, many of us will make resolutions and establish plans to meet some serious and significant goals, some very personal and even adventurous goals. In the beginning we’re motivated to put forth a sincere, and maybe even a little bit of a superhuman, effort to get ourselves in shape in all kinds of ways. We’re determined to transform our lives physically or financially, academically or professionally, emotionally or relationally or spiritually. Maybe even in each of these ways. After all, this is the time for transformation! The clock has struck midnight! And we’re in the beginning of a New Year. This thought – this biblical message of grace and truth – keeps running through my head over and over again, persistently and passionately, as I think about all the new beginning possibilities that come to us at the beginning of this New Year:

In the beginning God…– Genesis 1:1

Say it slowly. Word by word. Think about it deeply. Think about what it would mean if each one of us wholeheartedly embraced a life transformation focusing on: In the beginning God. I deeply believe that each of us has been created to make choices that would honor these holy words.

Making these In the beginning God choices would mean that we would…

Seek God first.

Listen to God first.

Trust God first.

Obey God first.

Love God first.

These In the beginning God choices would be made by each of us…

In the beginning of every day and every moment of life we have been given.

In the beginning of everything we do.

In the beginning of everything we say – spoken, written and cyber-spaced.

In the beginning of every interaction with every person.

In the beginning of every choice we make.

Choosing to live in the grace and truth of In the beginning God will give each of us a deeper awareness of the gift of life we have been given, keeping us in a right relational position with our sovereign God as the loving authority and sacred author of our lives.

Choosing to live in the grace and truth of In the beginning God will fill us with the peace and power we so desperately need to live each new day – no matter what our day may bring – today and every day of this New Year!

May this New Year be one of great transformation for each of us as we choose to live out the grace and truth of In the beginning God with our God who is the beginning and the end!

In the love and peace, grace and truth of Jesus Christ,                                               Sylane
