GOD’S MAJESTY IN THE MIDST OF THE MESSY

Life can be very messy at times. Life can move at a pressured pace. Life can be filled with things that we never want mentioned. Life can be filled with crazy circumstances and even crazier people. Life can be mundane. Life can be maddening.

But! Always our Lord is majestic! And it is so good and so right for our souls to remember that! It is so good and so right to lift our eyes up to our majestic Lord and off all of the messy and maddening, the mundane and the unmentionable things in our lives. It is so good and so right to lift our eyes to see and acknowledge the clear evidence of our Lord’s majesty all around us. No matter how messy our lives may be!

Take time to let the words of Psalm 8 enter deeply into your heart, mind and soul – right in the midst of the messy. And lift up the truths of this hymn of praise to our majestic Lord!

LORD, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants

you have established a stronghold against your enemies,

to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor.

You made them rulers over the works of your hands;

you put everything under their feet;

all flocks and herds,

and the animals of the wild,

the birds in the sky,

and the fish of the sea,

all that swim the paths of the seas.

LORD, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8:1-9

Taking the time to really meditate on (and sing about!) the majesty of our Lord helps my heart, mind and soul to breathe more deeply and my smile to come more easily. Taking time to push back from the messiness and the messed-up-ness of this life – every moment we will take – to focus on the eternal majesty of the Lord is always so good and so right!

Take those majestic moments regularly – especially right in the midst of the messy!

In love, peace and purposeful passion,

Sylane
