Sometimes, you just gotta sing! Lately, in the midst of some very sad times and hard circumstances for some of my dearest ones, God keeps speaking and singing to me of His love, grace and truth. And I hear and sense God’s words and music filling and freeing my heart, mind, body and soul with greater power than any earthly sadness could ever hold. God’s music declares who He is. And God is the One who loves us more than we can possibly comprehend. God is the One who holds all creation and all eternity in His all-powerful hands. God is the One who holds us tenderly and tightly in His unfailing love and transcending peace forever – no matter what our times or circumstances are like here on earth. God is the Almighty One and He is our Heavenly Abba.
And, sometimes, you just gotta sing in response to God’s love, grace and truth! There is great blessing for each of us – there is healing of our hearts, transforming of our minds, refreshing of our bodies and lifting of our souls – whenever we speak and sing in thanksgiving to our eternal, faithful, righteous, loving Lord. So, today, I invite and encourage each of you to join me in this musical interlude – for our hearts, minds, bodies and souls – as you read, think about, meditate on, pray through, and sing Psalm 98:
Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The LORD has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
He has remembered his love
and faithfulness to Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;
make music to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,
with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn –
shout for joy before the LORD, the King.
Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
let them sing before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the people with equity.
May our God, who sings over us (Zephaniah 3:17), bless you with renewed hope, joy, peace and love because of who our Lord is and who you are to Him! Sometimes, you just gotta sing!
In love, peace and purposeful passion,
