The Who of God and The What of God are absolutely bound together and inseparable. A living, active relationship with our God brings us into a deeper intimacy and greater knowledge of Who our God is. Through this relationship, our God pours out His very nature – His Holy Spirit – into our innermost beings so that we will then pour out to others The What our God has given to us. As we are filled and flowing with both The Who of God and The What of God, we are renewed, we are set free, and we become a blessing and a tangible reflection of the Living Christ to others in amazingly transforming ways.
The Who our God is – Mighty God:
And He will be called…Mighty God
“…I am God Almighty…”
Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show your servant
your greatness and your strong hand.
For what god is there in heaven or on earth
who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?
The What our God gives – His strength – transforms our nature to be more like Him and flows through us so that God’s nature is revealed and made known to those around us:
It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.
2 Samuel 22:33
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.
1 Chronicles 16:27
Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
I can do all things through him who gives me strength.
Our God is the Mighty God who gives us His strength. The Who of God and The What of God are inextricably interwoven and mysteriously given to us to bring us into a deeper, living oneness with our Holy God as He gives His own Spirit to live within us, transforming us to be more and more like Him in character, in thoughts, words, actions, interactions and reactions.
Our God is the Mighty God – the giver of all true strength. Strength that is unlimited by our weakness. Strength that is not bound or broken, damaged or destroyed by our circumstances. Strength that brings an inexpressible, supernatural sense of security, joy and power to our minds, hearts and souls. Strength that allows us to be ambassadors of our Mighty God, offering His eternal security, joy and power to those who need Him and His strength – to those who need The Who of God and The What of God for themselves. That would be all of us!
