LIVING THE TRUTH OF PSALM 23 – part 7

As we read reflectively through Psalm 23, a few verses at a time, I pray that our God will lead each of us to know what living the truth of His Word means for each of our days. Whether it is a day of sadness, surprises or celebration.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life… Psalm 23:6

The perfect, passionate Goodness and the undeniable, unfailing Love of our LORD and Shepherd will follow us – literally, pursue us – all of the days of our life. Can you even imagine this? Our LORD’s Goodness and Love follows and pursues us so that He may attend to us and care for us in deep and daily ways.

When I, intentionally and actively, choose to walk with my LORD and Shepherd, seeking to follow Him, yielding to His loving authority over my life, it is very easy to know, see and sense God’s Goodness and Love following and pursuing me, attending to and caring for me. Even in the most challenging, devastating or sad circumstances.

When I do not, intentionally and actively, choose to walk with my LORD and Shepherd, not seeking to follow Him, not yielding to His loving authority over my life, it is so very hard to know, see and sense His Goodness and Love following and pursuing me, attending to and caring for me. I’m going my own way. And in those moments, I am not attending to His way nor caring about it, for that matter.

But! No matter what I may be choosing or what I may be sensing, our LORD’s Goodness and Love are continually following and pursuing me, attending to and caring for me! And this is true for each and every one of us! Our God never changes! It is we who choose to change focus. It is we who choose to change directions. Not God!

And it is each one of us who needs to turn around and run into the outstretched arms of our LORD and Shepherd. We each need to know, see and sense our LORD and Shepherd’s perfect, passionate Goodness and His undeniable, unfailing Love all the days of our life. We all are desperate for Him and for all that His Goodness and Love bring into our lives.

We each need to (re)view our life-walks from God’s perspective and trust in God’s unchanging truth: His Goodness and Love follow us all the days of our life. When we do, it is then that we will know, see and sense God’s Goodness and Love in deeper, tangible, healing and hope-filled ways all the days of our lives. Even in the most challenging, devastating or sad circumstances. It is, also, then, as we walk a life-path marked by our LORD’s Goodness and Love, that we will be God’s vessels to bring His healing and hope to others in our lives.

Read, again, today’s verse:

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life… Psalm 23:6

Let’s take a walk! May our whole life-walk be one where we know, see, sense and share our LORD’s Goodness and Love which continually follows and pursues, attends to and cares for every person in this world – all the days of our lives!
